Calvin and Hobbes are the coolest. The only problem with it is that at times it forces one to laugh out loud, so best read in familiar company...
If you really like reading try fighting through a classic Charles Dickens book called A tale of Two cities... It's a really hard read, but the old way of descriptive is amazing.
